Each state carries different guidelines on which containers can and cannot be accepted under the container deposit scheme.
Generally, most 150ml to 3L single-use drink containers are eligible if made from PET, aluminium, glass, liquid paperboard, HDPE or steel.
Containers should be empty, uncrushed, unbroken and have the original label attached.
If in doubt, look for the ‘10 cent refund’ marking on the label. If it says ‘SA/NT only’ it is mostly still accepted in other States and Territories that operate a Container Refund Scheme, it’s just that the label is yet to be updated.
Accepted materials vary depending on the Envirobank location. As a general rule we are able to accept:
- Aluminium
- Plastic (PET or HDPE)
- Glass
- Steel
- Liquid paperboard (cartons)
- Glass Wine and Spirits bottles (QLD ONLY)
Cordial and plain milk containers are generally not eligible.
