We are delighted to share the news that, commencing on November 1st, 2023, residents of Queensland will have the opportunity to earn a 10-cent refund when recycling glass wine and spirit bottles ranging from 150ml to 3L. This expansion is a significant stride towards a more sustainable and environmentally conscious future in the Sunshine State.
Initially, wine and spirit manufacturers are not required to display the 10-cent refund marking on their labels. The Queensland Government has extended the deadline for wine and spirit manufacturers to include the 10-cent refund marking on their labels until January 2027.
During this grace period, eligible glass wine and spirit bottles can be returned for a refund even if they lack the 10-cent mark.
What About New South Wales and Victoria?
New South Wales and Victoria are still considering the inclusion of glass wine and spirit bottles in their container deposit schemes. For our friends in these states, please continue to recycle these bottles in your yellow bins to support recycling efforts.
